Another successful unplanned road trip. Chi Santos, Joy Tingson, Hubbee and I went on a road trip to Bolinao, Pangasinan to visit the famous beach up in the northern part of Luzon. So let me share to you on how you can have your own road trip to Bolinao, Pangasinan. Just don’t forget to tag along some friends. The travel going there is such a nice moment to bond with your friends. And don’t forget to charge your iPod for a good music while on the road.

After the long drive in NLEX towards Mabalacat, Pampanga, and after a stop over at a gas station in NLEX to grab some food, and after passing exit of Dau, exit to SCTEX (Subic Clark Tarlac Expressway). Check this Toll Rates for complete list of Toll Fees in NLEX. After the toll, you will see two roads, one going to Clark if you go straight, and one is turning right which is the one you should take. It was actually my first to pass at SCTEX. And I must say, it was a perfect expressway. Smooth!

After passing Dolores and Concepcion exits in SCTEX, take the Hacienda Luisita exit and pay P69.00 for the toll. We drove up to the main road, the end of the Hacienda Luisita area in which, by the way, was a huge hacienda for the Aquinos and the Cojuangcos. Then from there, turn right going to Tarlac City.

Just follow the main road until you get to SM Mall Tarlac which is on the left side of the road. Straight ahead until you see the Mercury Drug store. It’s a junction area so turn left from there.

From there, just follow the road until you get to McDonalds. From there, you have to turn right.

You will then pass at a Fuji Film store and Tambunting Pawnshop. Once you see these stores, turn left. It’s not a long ride from McDonalds so be quick to see these landmarks. But don’t worry, it’s easy to see them.

You will then pass over a bridge, just straight ahead. That’s the Aquino Bridge. Although you will experience traffic jam as it is a bottle neck area because it’s a two-way road. Just be patient on this part.

You will now head to Camiling, Tarlac. And you’re guide on the road are the Jollibee signs. Just keep straight ahead. When you finally see the Amigo store sign, near the Shell gas station, turn left. Don’t get confused as you will see one Shell gas station at first, it should be the second Shell gas station. The one right beside Amigo. It’s a long travel from the Aquino bridge.

Then start following the Blue 100 Islands directional signs. After the Jollibee signs, this time, it’s going to be your guide. It’s one left turn and one right turn. Just follow that sign.

Then it’s going to be a long travel to Tarlac, passing different towns like Mangatarem and Aguilar. Then once you arrive at Bugallon town, at the junction area, you will see an old Puerto Del Sol billboard, medium size billboard, turn left. Do not ever go straight ahead once you see the billboard.

Then passing different towns again like Labrador and Sual going to Alaminos, Pangasinan. It’s another long travel. Just go straight ahead. It’s been how many hours on the road and we were hungry already. The last time we saw a Jollibee was in Camiling, Tarlac. We’ve been dying to eat and wanting to explode the liquid inside our body. That’s why at that point, any restaurant along the way will do.

But here’s the wonderful catch.

All the local, big or small restaurants we’ve passed by are all closed for some reason. If it’s not closed, it’s being renovated. Perfect! Our eyes are so focused on looking if there will be signs of Jollibee or McDonalds on the road that will tell us that we’re close to them already. But there’s none. We were literally crying for Jollibee like kids. That’s why I recommend to stop by at Camiling, Tarlac and have your lunch there, or bring a lot of food inside your car.

We were so happy to arrive at Alaminos, Pangasinan. It’s a city and it has McDonalds. And we had our lunch like we were so hungry for 3 days.

Then we left after our quick lunch. So, going back, just continue following the road from McDonalds. And by the way, you won’t be out of the way when you plan to stop by at McDonalds. And don’t get confused when you get to Alaminos town proper because you will see a lot of signs. Just go straight until you get out of the town proper and reach Bani. At the town, you will reach a right/left turn roads, you will see a blue sign showing Bolinao is turn right. Take that direction. Then go straight ahead passing the junction road of Anda town. You’re then close to your destination.

Then at your left, you will see another blue signs showing direction going to Cape Bolinao Lighthouse, different bolinao beach resorts, turn left. And you finally reached your destination: BOLINAO, PANGASINAN!!! It was a 7 hour drive going to Bolinao, Pangasinan from Alabang, Muntinlupa. We left at 6:00am and arrived there at 1:00pm. But it’s all worth it. Happy Road Tripping!!!

- Bolinao, Pangasinan was visited last December 2010.
